'For The Record'

The exhibition brings together works by female artists from two major art collections: City of Birmingham and The Arts Council Collection. ‘For the Record’ aims to open up conversations between works of art and between artists and their contexts, ideas and narratives.
’For the Record’ explores themes of preservation, tradition, documentation and recording across a wide range of media including portraiture, landscape, sculpture and installation. Works reflect both the time in which they were made and current trends in art. Many of these works of art challenge stereotypes and traditional assumptions. Are they records of real lived experience or imagined constructs?
