Overview

The large-scale charcoal wall drawings that make up Walker’s exhibition, Arena, were the results of a three-month residency at Lakeside Arts in Nottingham, UK. Each portrait depicts members of the public who visited the gallery. The execution of the drawings directly onto the walls of the gallery determining a sense of permanence, and then their subsequent erasure, was used as a device to make reference to and further explore the impermanence and shifting nature of identity and our immortality.
